Krystalium: Seed of Revolution
AUTUMN 2026, Fort IV, Toruń, Poland
The seeds of revolution must be carried to the farthest reaches of the Empire, where the soil is ripe for their growth. We need people brave enough to do this, brave enough to water these seeds with blood and gather the fruit. People who will set the hearts of others aflame with the burning need for freedom. The iron tzar’s tyranny has gone on for too long. To arms! Glory to the Revolution!
Glory to the Revolution!
Krystalium is an epic larp trilogy set in an original world at the brink of a continent-spanning war. We want to create and experience a moving story together, a story whose subject matter is close to the problems we face in current reality, but a story told in an original world created for our game. A world which changes and evolves throughout the trilogy depending on the players’ choices.
Steampunk literary and film genre is one of our inspirations. We use some of its themes and ambiance, but our impossible technology is not based on steam. It’s based on a mysterious mineral known as krystalium. Our inspirations include Shadow and Bone, Carnival Row, Arcane, His Dark Materials and Fullmetal Alchemist.
Krystalium larp trilogy will unfold over the three main chapters, each taking place in the very heart of the revolution - the headquarters of Project Firestarter. You can also participate in field missions - supplementary chapters set between the main trilogy chapters, which introduce additional content and also influence the main trilogy.
Emotion and decisions
Let us experience a moving story applicable to the dilemmas of our real lives, open ourselves to difficult emotions, decisions, and moral questions. What is more important - to do what’s right, or to do what’s necessary? Is there a point where one should stop following orders? Should there be a limit to scientific progress? Perhaps the end does justify the means?
War and revolution
We want to examine how the brutality and violence of war changes individuals, countries, and worlds. We want to once again face the eternal question: how much does it cost to win a war? Can the price really be worth it? What is it like to be responsible for failures, and victories?
Politics and intrigue
Let us try to navigate a tangled web of conflicting interests, opinions, policies, personal and national gain, ideologies and outright lies. Sacrifice will be necessary, both global and personal. Can we raise above the old conflicts, the differences? What kind of sacrifice are we ready to make, and what kind does the revolution actually need? And what comes afterwards?
Technology and religion
We want to examine an advent of a technology which will inexorably change the world. Decisions must be made. How, and at what cost, will this change come? Knowledge is power, but with power comes responsibility. Should discoveries be made simply because there is something to discover? Should there be limits to how we pursue knowledge? How about what we do with it afterwards? And how does religion fit into this scientific and technological progress - is it opium for the masses, part of the oppressive system, or a source of solace? Is there a grain of truth in the old myths?

Join Project Firestarter!
Play a character who has known suffering and oppression, who is determined to do something about it, and who has surmounted many obstacles to get where they are today. Regardless of their social class, nationality, or profession, your character’s experiences, knowledge, skills and talents may be crucial to overthrowing the iron tzar... provided their psyche can take it.

The word “alchemist” has a unique meaning in the world of Krystalium. It is a term created to refer to experts who arose after the mineral was discovered. They process the mineral for further use by engineers and medics, they experiment with the pure crystals, and constantly research its potential and properties, building a science of crystallography, one discovery at a time.

Tacticians and fighters who are often right at the frontline, risking everything in a fight for a better tomorrow. Their ability to implement krystalium-based technology into actual war strategy, and to use that strategy in battle, will ultimately decide the fate of the revolution. Breachers fight with their arms and weapons on the battlefield, but also with their minds in the war room.

Inventors who use processed crystals to create weapons, explosives, or complicated machinery. Discovering new krystalium properties opens new possibilities for its military use, for new weapons in the revolutionary arsenal, all of which need to be designed, tested, and evaluated. And many of them may need to also be judged.

Keeping people alive in wartime is an ordeal all in itself. Medics often face the most difficult decisions, and their skills and timing are often the only thing standing between life and death. Project Firestarter medics serve other soldiers at the frontline, but also conduct scientific research into possible uses of krystalium in medicine and its influence on the human body.

They use their social skills and intelligence to navigate dangerous situations, to search for the truth... or obscure it. Their tasks are often classified, and often very dangerous. They collect information, discover secrets, conduct interrogations, plan stealthy attacks right at the enemy’s weakest spot, and frequently trust no one.
What’s unique about Krystalium?
