Honorable Mentions

It's impossible to tag all one hundred and six(!!!) people who helped make 2024 a year full of LarpVenture-organized events, but we especially wanted to thank a few people who put a lot of work into the day-to-day operation of the company:

Meg Pomorska - irreplaceble Meg, who answers every email from players! Thousands of emails, hundreds of uploaded characters, dozens of channels animated on Discord and one constant credo - the participants must be well informed about everything!

Patryk Cichocki - joined us in a permanent role around mid-year, but produced or supported 10 games with us. Thanks to him, the production and organizational background of our games improves from event to event, and budget requirements are kept in check.

Anna Wiśniewska - a volcano of new energy and professionalism entered our socialmedia communications over the summer. Anna is responsible for more than 90% of our posts, she also started advertising activities and successfully reached many new people who have not yet had the opportunity to larp with us.

Malwina Nowakowska - thanks to Malwina, every invoice, contract or account transaction was meticulously recorded and payments were sent as scheduled.

The strategic cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED, which we started this year, also deserves a special mention. This is a big thing for LarpVenture! Thanks to this cooperation, we will be organizing several larps in the world of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 in the coming years. The first titles are already announced, and you will find out about some next fruits of of the cooperation in the coming months.

Lessons From the Past Year

2024 brought us a huge amount of experience. We tried many new things, achieved successes and made mistakes that we want to remember and learn from. Despite our sincerest intentions, not all games met the quality standards we expect of ourselves and you expect of us. That's why we conduct evaluations and collect feedback from those involved, and turn the conclusions into improvements and better decisions on an ongoing basis. We are grateful to all of you who point out aspects for us to improve, we take your comments to heart, although it is sometimes very difficult. One thing we want to promise you - the evaluation processes will not disappear, and their results will be published on our blog, which will launch this year on the LarpVenture website.

According to our predictions - larps that are run multiple times, or have a continuation - get better with each edition! The best example is The Creeping Night, which we organized again. The scenario is matured now, we know how to work with the location, and on the international edition we also polished the flow of the finale. The game has its die-hard fans, who will also take part in 2025.

Krystalium, our largest original project, surprised us with its size and logistics. We invested in uniforms that are super-quality and look great in photos, but require a lot of time and energy to fit, store and clean them so that everyone feels comfortable in them. The game's design assumptions divided those who participated, but 70% decided to return, appreciating the expansive world and functioning technology! We received very extensive feedback and implemented a lot of improvements, especially in the amount of off-game instructions. At the November larp in this series, we introduced a pocket-sized “Field Guide” that helped navigate among the experiences we designed and allowed specialists to shine with expertise in their fields. “Field Guide” is battle-tested now and will return at future larps in this cycle. We plan to hold two more larps in the series in 2025 - the second chapter in March and the field mission in the fall.

Gig3r brought many delights, but there were just as many bitter pills. The process of creating the game was complicated, which took its toll on the experience of those attending and the team working on this cyberpunk larp. Unfortunately, we can't count this event as a success, but we are glad it took place. The evaluation process is still ongoing, but we have already learned a lot of lessons for the future. And this one - will happen! We know that the authors of GiG3R are planning its return, while it will no longer happen under the wings of LarpVenture. We keep our fingers crossed for future editions!

In conclusion, we want to emphasize one more thing. We have achieved the intended goal in 2024 - we have increased the scale of our operation to a level that allows the company to function. We reckoned that not all projects would find the right number of takers. In the end, we completed as many as 11 games, most of which were large, multi-day projects for 70+ people.

Plans for the Next Year

We enter the new year with something new, something old, something borrowed and something of our own on our calendars. 😁 Among the organized projects:

  • 4th of July - we already know for sure that Pristine Park will be visited by two groups of players, Polish and international. Broken American Dream - here we go again!
  • Saga of Ulvedalen - a great game about magic and humanity by Dorota Kalina Trojanowska, returning after many years since the last run.
  • Krystalium - the story of the war against the Lavrian Empire will get a boost during Horrors of War, coming in March!
  • The Creeping Night - will scare players in the Fantasy Village for the fifth time, alas this year only Polish speakers.
  • Whirls of Pontar - a new title from the Witcher world, an expansive and gritty city game where crossing borders - those on the map and those in the hearts of characters - will be important.

We are committed to proven and polished projects this year. We focus on raising the quality of our games, primarily in terms of the participatory experience. You rated the production and organizational aspects pretty well, so here there will be no revolution. On the other hand, we will pay a lot of attention to the scenarios, design, characters and structure of the organized larps, in order to give everyone an unforgettable and, above all, satisfying experience.

Finally, we would like to thank all the people who trusted us as organizers and took part in one or more of our larps.

We hope to see you again in 2025!
